The Material Resource Centre (MRC) is a place to explore materials representing current trends in design, materials research and productions from all over the world. Visitors can discover new interesting materials and related technologies that can lead to new sources of inspiration and creativity.  Collections include Material ConneXion New York, StylePark Germany, PolyU Eco-Material Archive (HK and PRD), Pantone color libraries and collections of local materials, manufacturers and suppliers.

What is Design?
Can we apply design in our daily life?
How to come up with all the creative and even crazy ideas?

A 1.5 hour design workshop for secondary school students during the PolyU Design Annual Show 2019. In addition to the workshop, we will provide tips on admissions and invite a current student to share their campus experience. After the workshop, you are welcome to join the Annual Show’s Guided Tour to better understand the hidden stories behind the projects. Parents and teachers are welcome to sit in.

  • Introduction on BA (Hons) Scheme in Design

  • Student Sharing

  • Face-to-face Consultation

Target: S2-5 or Grades 8-11 students, their parents and teachers
Language: Cantonese

How can university’s design school work better with secondary school teachers in nurturing brilliant young talents? Here comes the opportunity to find out the answers at the PolyU Design Summer Programme to be held on 9 July 2019 (Tuesday). It is a one-day programme on “What Design” is by exploring different design subjects through various workshops. Participants are secondary school students while we are now calling for the teachers to join as OBSERVERS.

This event is for the secondary school teachers in Hong Kong ONLY:
You and your colleagues are welcome to join the summer programme as OBSERVERS. PolyU Design’s faculty members will discuss with you on how design approaches help students to learn and how design thinking can benefit secondary school curriculum.
